Save Money with a New Generic!

The cholesterol lowering drug Lipitor® became available as a generic called atorvastatin on November 30, 2011. As Lipitor has been the most prescribed drug for many years, generic atorvastatin will help you and your employees reduce prescription drug expenses.

Atorvastatin is now a Tier 1 medication on our Medication Guide (formulary). Brand name Lipitor will be moved to Tier 3 (non-formulary) on January 1, 2012 for all plans, except Medicare Advantage.

Members who continue to take Lipitor will have to pay their Tier 3 copay or full price based on their prescription drug coverage starting on January 1, 2012.
